Target audience

The ideal target audience for my magazine is people of student age (mid teens - early twenties).

During the idea development of my magazine, I have personally made decisions based on my target audience. For example, I decided on the genre of my magazine to be 'alternative/rock' as I know a lot of people in my target audience are interested in this genre of music due to my audience research questionnaire, distributed to students.

I also decided to use a simplistic colour scheme, utilizing the colours white and black in league with accents of a bold colour to suit my target audience. I decided this as these colours will make my magazine look sophisticated and professional, but also the accents of colour will make it look exciting and appealing to my audience, standing out over other magazines of a similar target audience/genre.

Furthermore, when taking my photographs for the main images in my magazine, I will ensure the model is within the age range of my target audience. This will help my original magazines appeal to the right target audience as if they are of a similar age as the model; it makes the audience able to relate easily to them more successfully.
