I decided it would be more effective and beneficial to my production if I made a mock-up magazine cover before I started production. This was so I had a 'rough idea' what my magazine layout will look like, and how it will appear to my target audience.
In order to start the production of my magazine cover mock-up, I opened a new document, set the pre-set to 'international paper' and selected the A4 size paper. I chose this size as it would be appropriate for a music magazine (or a magazine of any kind) due to existing magazines being printed and distributed at this size.
I then proceeded to piece together vital componants to make a brief mock up of what my cover will eventually look like.
Here is my mock up magazine cover:
As you can see, I have included my title in my magazine mock-up. After experimenting with a variety of different colours, as seen in my previous post, I decided to use the dark red colour. I decided this as I believe it will appeal to my target audience more than a brighter colour, but at the same time it does still stand out. From this decision of title colour, I decided that the colour scheme for my magazine should follow this, and so I will use a main colour scheme of red, black and white.
I also added a rough idea of where the main cover image on my cover will be situated. I did this to get a bried idea of space and layout, in order for me to more appropriately plan my magazine cover and make it look as sleek and professional as possible. I also added a 'list of other magazine articles' in order to gain the insight into layout. I took into account other magazine layouts when I made this decision.
Furthermore, I added a barcode and left room under my title for a 'tagline' and 'date/issue#'. I decided to leave room for me to think of a tagline as my product progresses through the development stages as something may become apparent for a tagline once I start the creation process.
