Questionnaire results

I ensured my questionnaire had been in circulation for a reasonable amount of time before collecting and analysing the responses.

I made question one a multiple response question so people could choose more than one response to which magazine genre they preferred. In response to question 1, 'Which genre of music magazine do you prefer' I found that the majority of people prefered 'Rock' as a genre of magazine. This was followed as close second was 'Alternative' music magazines.
Due to this response, I have decided to make the genre of my original music magazine 'Alternative/Rock' genre, such as 'Kerrang!' or 'Q'.

I wanted a general overview of how often my target audience of students actually read music magazine. This would give me some insight to the popularity and circulation of such magazines.
To the question 'How often do you read music magazines?' I got the response of 'often' 10 times, equating to '58.8'% of people that responded to my questionnaire. The second most popular response I found was ‘Very often’ with ’23.5’% of the result.
This showed me that my target audience did read magazines quite often and so, are interested in buying them.

I was interested in finding out how much my target audience were willing to pay, on average, for a music magazine of their choice. This will enable me to value my own magazine at a reasonable price which will appeal to my target audience.
My questionnaire results found that the majority of people (58.8%) are willing to spend ‘£2.99 – £3.99’ on music magazines.
I will take this into account when pricing my own product.

Finally, I was interested in finding out what gender within my target audience are more likely to read music magazines in order for me to tailor my own magazine to suit this audience.
My results found a quite even spread of Males and Females read music magazines - 47.1% of Males and 52.9% of Females.
The implication of this is that I will have to tailor my magazine in order to suit both a Male and Female target audience.

Due to these results, I will base my research on magazines of an 'Alternative/Rock' genre, such as 'Kerrang!', 'NME' and 'Q'.
